Word to know
Above the fold
The part of a page a visitor sees before they scroll.
Also called: the first thing you see, top of the page before scrolling, first screen
Everything a visitor can see the moment the page loads, before touching the scroll wheel.
Using it in a prompt
Above the fold, show the restaurant name, one photo of the dining room, and a Book a table button.
Designers borrowed this from newspapers, where only the top half of the front page was visible on the stand. On a website it is the most valuable space you have, so say what belongs there rather than leaving it to the agent to guess.
